Dr. Logan is the second ENC faculty member to be elected into Sigma Xi

In the fall of 2023, Dr. Logan was elected into Full Membership in the Scientific Research Honor Society, Sigma Xi, which was founded at Cornell University in 1886. Membership is only by nomination by current members and committee approval. Within the 138 years of its existence, the society has included over 200 Nobel Laureates. Some notable Nobel Laureate members related to genetics research include Linus Pauling (1954, 1962), George Beadle, Joshua Lederberg, Edward Tatum (1958), Francis Crick and James Watson (1962), and Jeffrey C. Hall (2017).

At Eastern Nazarene College, Dr. James Houston Shrader was elected into Sigma Xi in 1954. Shrader Hall, the building that houses STEM education and research at ENC, is named after Dr. James Shrader. His membership certificate is located on the second floor, shown below. Dr. Logan is the second ENC faculty member to be elected into this prestigious society, spanning the college's 123 year history.
